For over 30 years, Luohan Tang has been offering pieces of Chinese furniture, architectural elements, and scholar’s objects—such as extraordinary rocks for interiors or gardens.
From the most rigorous minimalism to the most refined sophistication, these vernacular objects evoke an elegant way of life, combining serenity and poetry. While they simply convey the story of a millennia-old culture and philosophy that has nourished the Western world and its art in past centuries, modernity continues to draw many of its qualities from them.Contemporary aspirations for living spaces that admire and respect the forces of nature resonate as their echo.
Through prestigious interior design projects it has contributed to, and the international museums that have placed their trust in it, Luohan Tang has become a reference in the international market for Chinese furniture.
Luohan Tang was founded by Laurent Colson.
An engineer by training, during his years in China working in high technology and the aerospace sector, his scientific mind developed a deep interest in Chinese furniture.
He discovered the ingenuity of its craftsmanship and the beauty of its materials—rare woods and precious lacquers.
He has published several articles on the subject and regularly gives presentations in France and across Asia.
Besides exhibition and events, Pieces of Luohan Tang’s collection can be seen in Hong Kong by apointment at Studio B.L. ( Rykadan One, 22 floor, 23 rd Wong Chuk Hang Road, Hong Kong).

“Sincerely, why are we drawn to art? Or to what we consider as such? Is it a dissatisfaction with the present, with reality? A frustration? The feeling of being unfinished? Incomplete? Surely! The intuition of a different, vaster universe, elsewhere? The strange sense that we in fact belong to that other world? Perhaps! The futile hope of resolving our vertigo in the face of life through this impulse? A spiritual calling? Why not! The kinship of intuition between art and religion did not once frighten us. It does today.
There is only spiritual art! This has long been proclaimed. Yet some forget it, considering art as mere entertainment—with a small or even a capital ‘E’—even forgetting the function, the essence of ‘entertainment’. But art is, first and foremost, wonder—the kind that makes us let go of everything. Wonder belongs to that “spiritual” order, not to the emotional, the passionate, or the sensual.
Or else it transcends these epithets and propels them into a realm where intelligence and consciousness dissolve. We lose ourselves in order to find ourselves again. Our reality fades away. We disappear, only to be reborn in that other universe. The real one?”

April 24–28, 2026 · Liangyi Museum
Luohan Tang is honored to participate in the 3rd “Salon on Hollywood,” hosted by the Liangyi Museum, from April 24 to 28, 2026.
On this occasion, we will present an important pair of lacquer cabinets, exquisitely adorned with “baibao,” dating from the Kangxi period and not seen for the past eight years, together with a finely crafted and inventive pair of Yongzheng-period armchairs, recently displayed at Studio B.L.
We would be pleased to offer you a more detailed introduction to these exceptional pieces during the event.
